5 Seconds of Summer singer Luke Hemmings is engaged to his girlfriend Sierra Deaton, the couple announced on social media on Tuesday.
« With trembling hands, but with all my heart, I got mine at the beginning of the year best friend made a proposal, « wrote Hemmings (24) on Instagram. « I love you, Thao, and I can’t imagine my life without you, » he added, using half of Deatons – who is of Vietnamese descent – middle name.
« It’s been fun doing this for so long keep a secret, but my heart is almost bursting at the seams, « Deaton wrote on her own Instagram, adding, » I can’t wait forever. » (The couple didn’t say when the happy moment came.)
In 2018, Hemmings teamed up with Deaton – the third and final season of the US version of « The X Factor » as half of the indie-pop duo Alex & Sierra won with Alex Kinsey – Instagram officially became this year in August 2018. The couple spent part of the coronavirus lockdown together in Los Angeles last year.
Hemmings’ 5SOS bandmate Michael Clifford made things official with his own girlfriend Crystal Leigh in January 2019. (That was much more gratifying news than in June 2020, when Clifford was asked to apologize after old, insulting tweets from him surfaced.)
Alex & Sierra – who were together for much of their careers – split bitterly, first as a couple, then as a band, and in 2018 Sierra released new music under the name Essy.
Hemmings’ newest album with 5SOS, « Calm », was released in March 2020 and peaked in eight countries Top 10.
