A magnitude 6.6 quake occurred early Tuesday off the west coast of Cyprus, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
The strong and relatively shallow quake, which occurred at 01:07 GMT, was centered 48 kilometers (30 miles) west-northwest of the city of Polis on the Mediterranean island, the USGS said.
The quake was across Cyprus and the region with reports from Turkey, according to the USGS , Israel and Lebanon.
There is a low probability of casualties and damage from the quake, according to a preliminary assessment.
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center measured the quake with a strength of 6.5 at a depth of 51 km.
