CM – Actor Ned Beatty has died at the age of 83


Veteran character actor Ned Beatty, best known for his work on « Superman » and « Network », died in his sleep on Sunday. He was 83.

The TMZ-reported death was confirmed by a family member who said he died with family members.

No further details about the death were immediately available, but TMZ was told that the death was unrelated to COVID.

Beatty was a screen legend for more than five decades and was known for his wide range of skills.

In the 1976 hit « Network » Beatty delivered a breathtaking 5 to 6 minute monologue in which he tries to convince the protagonist to accept a major merger deal that would not be good for the public.

The performance earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars that year, and in 1978 he stunned the masses again when he played a completely different character in « Superman ».

As Otis, the foolish sidekick of Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor, Beatty Hollywood proved he could play comedic characters as well as serious ones and continued the role during the 1980 sequel to Superman II.

On his screen debut in 1972, Beatty starred in the psychological thriller “Deliverance” and was the screen victim in the infamous rape scene “Squeal like a pig,” which would go down as one of the most depraved moments in film history history go to the checkout.

In his advanced age, Beatty took on a number of dubbing roles in « Rango » and « Toy Story 3 », where he played a devilish pink bear named Lotso and also in major television series such as «  » MASH « , » CSI « , » and « Murder, she wrote ».
