Kenny McLean is ready to do his part to convince his Scottish teammate Billy Gilmour of Norwich City and admits the youngster would be a perfect fit for the Canaries’ playing style.
The Canaries hope to do so this summer finalize a loan deal for the Chelsea youngster, however, face stiff competition from Scottish champions Rangers, with Gilmour keen to work with Steven Gerrard.
Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea would prefer the Scot to his development on The loan deal on Carrow Road continues, with the ex-PSG boss maintaining a strong relationship with Daniel Farke from their time together at Borussia Dortmund.
It is believed that the progress made by Spurs loaner Oliver Skipp last season coupled with Farke’s tactical approach behind Tuchel’s preference for a Carrow Road loan to Gilmour, but a final decision on his future Unft pending.
Norwich are in pole position of a handful of Premier League clubs that have shown interest in Gilmour. The midfielder impressed during Euro 2020, especially in Scotland’s goalless tie against England at Wembley.
A positive coronavirus diagnosis means Gilmour has been forced to self-isolate. That should end on Wednesday, the 20-year-old can then undergo a medical examination and make a loan switch from Chelsea.
McLean, who should be Gilmour’s international team-mate at the tournament this summer, before he leaves the European Championship due to an injury ruled out believes Gilmour would be a welcome addition to the Carrow Road squad and is ready to speak to the youngster about the move.
« I wouldn’t mind seeing Billy at Norwich. We had Oliver Skipp on loan from Spurs last season and he was great for us.
« Billy would fit into our style of play, the way we try to build from behind. That suits him perfectly and a full season in the Premier League would benefit him. «
