Fifteen years after playing a test match against each other, Australian women and Indian women will take part in a historic day-night test played with a pink ball on Thursday morning in Carrara, Gold Coast, Queensland. The one-time test will be India’s first day-night test. This is an Indian test team for women with a new look. Only two members of the 2006 test team are in the current roster. You are skipper Mithali Raj and the experienced pacemaker Jhulan Goswami. This will be the second test match for the Indian women’s cricket team this year. Earlier this year, in June, India settled for a hard-earned draw against the English women in Bristol after being forced to follow suit. Opener Shafali Verma stood out in her first test match with scores of 96 and 63. Smriti Mandhana scored 78 in the first innings, but Mithali Raj, the mainstay of the middle order, failed in both innings. India will miss Harmanpreet Kaur, who is sidelined with a thumb injury. Since the third AUS vs. IND ODI took place on Sunday and the following day was a rest day, Indian women only have two training sessions before the landmark test. The guests lost 2-1 in the ODI series. A big focus will be on Ellyse Perry. She has a fabulous test record with values of 213 *, 116 and 76 * in her last three test innings. 12:16 PM IS: Smriti Mandhana was the first woman to score fifty goals in a Pink Ball friendly for India. This was Mandhana’s third test fifty. 100 for Indian women. As usual, Smriti Mandhana led the attack with a good half a century. Her partner Shafali Verma (31) started but couldn’t capitalize on it. India 101/1 after 33 overs. Mandhana doesn’t refuse at 64.
Darcie Brown, Stella Campbell, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham received their first test caps for Australia.

Harmanpreet Kaur remains unavailable despite having a hit in the nets the night before the game. « Harman hurt his thumb while out in the field, so she’s out. It still hasn’t healed properly, » said Mithali on the eve of the game.
Rookie batter Yastika Bhatia and pacemaker Meghna Singh, who made impressive debuts in the ODI series celebrated, were able to receive their first test caps.
Australia also suffered a blow before the game when vice-captain Rachael Haynes was excluded due to a thigh injury. Skipper Meg Lanning said the team will select either a fast bowling all-rounder or a specialized batsman in their place.
