The number of cases rose to 736,074 after 4,014 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8 a.m. Thursday, according to government figures.
Another 7,266 people recovered from the treatment at home and in the hospital from the disease, bringing the number of recoveries to 642,449.
In the last 24 hours, 27,429 samples were tested nationwide, giving a positivity rate of 14.63 percent.
The most recent official figures assume a recovery rate of 87.28 percent, while the death rate is 1.46 percent.
Over 143.87 million people worldwide are infected with the novel coronavirus and 3.05 million are according to a balance sheet by Johns Hopkins University has died.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were detected in China in December 2019.
