Boston Marathon Champion Des Linden surprised five frontline workers and community members at the marathon finish line on Patriots Day.
The 2018 champion then attended the symbolic event of the first Patriots’ Day Mile on Boylston Street.

The Boston Marathon is traditionally held on Patriots Day, the third Monday in April. However, the race was postponed to fall this year due to coronavirus concerns.
The personal race with a smaller field is scheduled for October 11th and the virtual run will take place from October 8th to 10th.

The first Patriots’ Day Mile « encourages everyone to take action while raising funds for nonprofits in the Boston area whose mission is focused on health and wellness, » the Boston Athletic Association said in a statement.
« Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned runner, the Patriots’ Day Mile gives everyone the opportunity to be active on America’s most historic running date, » said the B.A.A. said. « The Patriots’ Day Mile was created in support of the B.A.A.’s goal of providing wider access to running. »
