CM – Chelsea boss Tuchel: Why I refused to start Pulisic at Wembley – Tribal Football

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel explained his approach to rotations ahead of today’s clash with Leicester City.

Having only two clear days between games is a pattern that Chelsea face quite a lot so the stress on players is closely monitored.

« There is a daily exchange between me, the fitness trainers and the medical team to predict the workload a little and what happens when we let every player play again, » explains Tuchel.

« We talk about every single player, every day. Are there any problems? Is there a history of muscle injuries? Is there a history of overload injuries? Is there overload in speed, is there overload in We have these conversations every day.

« Maybe sometimes it helps us have some tactical changes and you are always a little torn between wanting not to change at all because things are going well and knowing that I can’t play the next 10 games with the same squad.  »

Making progress in the cup competitions is what every coach wants, but it helps keep the schedule busy. Tuchel can’t afford to regret his rotation decisions.

« For example, would Christian Pulisic deserve to play in the FA Cup final? » he asks. « Yes, of course, and it didn’t feel good not to let him start. But if he risked another injury and then dropped out for the next three games, that would be the greater regret. » me. »
