Bangladesh got a boost ahead of the three remaining qualifying games for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup when striker Mohammad Ibrahim reached Doha on Monday after recovering from Covid-19.
Ibrahim is expected to take part in the team’s training at the University of Qatar’s playground today if he is found Covid-19 negative in Qatar.
All other members of the Bangladeshi team in Qatar were in their second Covid -19 tests found negative and had their recovery session on Monday, confirmed the Bangladeshi Football Association.
« Ibrahim reached Qatar today [Monday] and will attend team training tomorrow [Tuesday]. All other team members in Qatar were in the second Covid-19 test found negative, « said a press release by the BFF.
Bangladesh is expected to have its remaining on June 3rd, 7th and 15th at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha en Group E qualifiers against Afghanistan, India and Oman.
Bangladesh left for Qatar on May 28 without Covid infecting strikers Ibrahim and Mahbubur Rahman Sufil.
Ibrahim was at home in the last Test found negative and traveled to Qatar while Sufil, who is still recovering from Covid-19, is expected to join the team before the second game in Bangladesh.
« I have not tested negative yet but have no clear symptoms. I think I can join the team after the first game, « said Sufil on Monday.
