In response to Dan’s announcement, many GMA fans quickly tweeted friendly messages of support. “Dan, I enjoyed watching you on the GMA weekends. You will be missed. Good luck! » Said another. “I wish you health and happiness! I am sorry for all of us who will really miss seeing you at Good Moring America. Bravo @danbharris until we meet again, « commented another fan.
In his announcement, Dan said that he had decided it was time to move on, despite describing the move as a » difficult decision « . Even so, it sounds like he’s staying in New York City.
« As some of you may know, I spend a lot of time performing outside of school, on my side job, at a meditation company called Ten Percent Happier. It’s been a lot of juggling and while I’m a public advocate of work-life balance, if I’m honest, I struggle to follow my own advice. ”Dan went on to explain that his bosses at ABC“ unusual gracious « when they let him out of his contract early so he could focus on Ten Percent Happier.
According to Forbes, Ten Percent Happier was initially the name of a Nightline segment, Dan’s own journey to resource discovery for mental health and meditation after an airborne panic attack he had during his live performance on GMA, at which time Dan told viewers that he had been a workaholic for years. As he slowed down, he became depressed and took self-medication and turned to cocaine, which allegedly told him the doctors « almost certainly caused this panic attack ».
Dan then wrote a book called Ten Percent Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self Help That Actually Works – a true story. The book resulted in the creation of Dan’s company, on which he plans to focus his time and energy for the foreseeable future.
