Darwin and the surrounding areas will be locked for 48 hours after four new COVID-19 cases related to a Central Australian mine.

None are being acquired locally, but Chief Minister Michael Gunner says the outbreak is the largest The Northern Territory crisis since the pandemic began.

The lockdown, which begins at 1pm on Sunday, follows yesterday’s revelations that 900 workers have exited the Granites Mine 540 km northwest of Alice Springs, where one tested positive Man has flown to Brisbane, Perth and Alice Springs.
