CM – David Lappartient officially re-elected as UCI President for a second term

David Lappartient was re-elected for a second term as President of the International Cycling Federation (UCI) at the World Federation’s Congress, which took place on the occasion of the World Road Championships in Leuven, Belgium.

The Frenchman was the only candidate in July Confirmed for the role and returned for a second term without a vote.

Since taking over Brian Cookson in 2017, Lappartient has overseen the introduction of regulations banning the use of the drug Tramadol in cycling and established the UCI Track Champions League, which will start this November in Mallorca, Spain.

In a tweet after his re-election, the UCI President thanked the national associations for « renewing their trust in me for another four years ».

« Me I look forward to working with all stakeholders in my next term as UCI President as we move cycling further into the future ingen, « he added.

According to Cycling News, the 48-year-old also stated his hopes for his second term as president.

The Rwandan capital Kigali has been officially confirmed as the venue for the UCI Road World Championships 2025.
