MEMPHIS – A Sanders on the field caused as much trouble for Tennessee State on Saturday night as a Sanders on the sidelines.
Freshman quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of Jackson State Coach Deion Sanders, led his team to a 38:16 win over TSU (0-2) at the Southern Heritage Classic at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in front of 46,171 spectators.
Shedeur Sanders completed 30 of 40 passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns for Jackson State (2-0 ) to prevent new TSU coach Eddie George from his first win.
TSU trailed 10-7 in the first half, but Shedeur Sanders hit Keith Corbin III with a 67-yard touchdown pass at JSU’s third offensive game of the second half.
