England’s top order was blown away again on day three of Ashes’ fourth test, rising to 36 for four amid a hypnotic series of point balls and wickets from the Australian attack.
The opening session was delayed and shortened by rain, but England become champions of fast-forwarding and were ruthlessly exposed again.
Haseeb Hameed was the first to leave when he was cleared through a yawning gate and when that Lunch arrived, the drunken tourists had lost three more doughs in a fascinating time of 53 uncontrolled deliveries.

Zak Crawley repeated Hameed by splashing his stumps, Captain Joe Root buckled under the pressure by punching himself for a duck and Dawid Malan was caught sliding his leg in the last over.
Scott Boland, the won six for seven on his dream debut in Melbourne at the Boxing Day Test, made another notable intervention when he paused with numbers of two for zero from four overs.
It was another dark episode for a team staring at a 4-0 deficit in the series and a likely glossing over, aside from a dramatic change in fortunes in Hobart next week.
