CM – Five Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Stars in the 2021 WNBA Draft

After dominating March Madness last month, five Pac-12 women’s basketball stars were inducted into the 2021 WNBA Draft on Thursday night.

Arizona’s Aari McDonald was voted third overall by the Atlanta Dream
Aari McDonald is the first female Arizona player to be drafted in the first round. McDonald is the ninth Arizona player ever to be selected in the WNBA Draft and the first since 2013 (Davellyn White, 2nd round).

Michaela Onyen of UCLA was voted sixth overall by the New York Liberty
Michaela Onyenwere will be taken over by New York Liberty and will be the first UCLA female player to be drafted in the first round since Jordin Canada in 2018. It is the second year in a row that the Liberty has drafted a Pac-12 player with her first round of voting. The Liberty took Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) first overall.

Stanford’s Kiana Williams was selected in the second round, 18th overall, by the Seattle Storm
From one championship program to another, WNBA defending champion Seattle Storm picked Kiana Wililiams from the 2021 NCAA champion Stanford Cardinal. The storm took Williams in the second round with an 18th overall victory.

Arizona’s Trinity Baptiste was selected in the second round, 24th overall, by the Indiana Fever
After a stellar season for the NCAA runners-up, Trinity Baptiste will bring her talent to Indiana. This is the second time that two players have been included in the same WNBA draft in Arizona.

Aleah Goodman of the US state of Oregon was selected in the third round, 30th overall, by the Connecticut Sun.
Aleah Goodman is on his way to the Connecticut Sun after four excellent years in Corvallis. After no selection has been made in women’s basketball in the US state of Oregon since 2002, six players have been drafted in the last six drafts.
