Immigration advocates stopped northbound traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge Thursday morning to urge the U.S. Senate to open a route to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
Dozens of vehicles stopped at around 7am Lanes of the bridge head north and plan to be there by about 8 a.m. to ask Congress to pass laws that will help immigrants.
Peter Voivode, on behalf of the protesters and the Bay Area Coalition for Economic Justice and Citizenship for All spoke, said that law enforcement officials would be on site from 7:15 am, « but we are holding on ».
At around 7:30 am, traffic started going south, the lanes of the bridge became north Released at 7.45 a.m.
At first there was no further information about the protest, but the organizers are also planning a lunchtime rally in San Jose.
