CM – Google can turn to a court of law if there are any further leaks about CCI’s investigation report: Delhi HC

Last week, the tech giant filed a written petition with the court against the leakage of the CCI report into the investigation into the company.

The Delhi Supreme Court on Monday gave Google the freedom to turn to Google if there was more information in the media about a confidential preliminary investigative report held by the office of the Director General of India’s Competition Commission (CCI) On an ongoing investigation has been submitted into the company’s Android smartphone agreements.

The general director is the investigative arm of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Last week, the tech giant filed a written petition with the court against the leakage of the CCI report into the investigation into the company.

The CCI informed the court that the leak alleged by Google did not arise from the antitrust authorities. The court recorded the IHK’s statement that no confidential information about the investigation had leaked.

The court also found that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry had already taken note of the allegations made by Google in its session on September 23 and recommended the formation of a committee of inquiry would have.

Google had described the leaked report as a breach of trust that « impairs its ability to defend itself and harms Google and its partners ». The company announced in a statement last week that it had neither received nor checked the confidential report by then.

« We are deeply concerned that the Director-General’s report containing our confidential information on an ongoing case leaked to the media while the Chamber of Commerce was in custody … Protecting confidential information is fundamental to any government investigation, and we are pursuing our legal right to redress and prevent further unlawful disclosures, « said a Google spokesman.

According to media reports, DG found that Google had committed unfair business practices related to Android.

After CCI had discovered at first glance an alleged violation of competition rules, the CCI ordered a detailed investigation against Google in this regard in early 2019.
