KATHMANDU: The Indian men’s soccer team played a 1-1 draw against Nepal in an international friendly on Thursday, with substitute Anirudh Thapa equalizing after the hosts took the lead.
Thapa scored in the 60th minute for the Blue Tigers after Anjan Bista had put the home team in the lead in the 36th minute.
The first half started with India on the forefoot and earned a corner with their first attack.
Brandon’s delivery found Chinglensana Singh in the penalty area, but was denied a shot with a final challenge.
From the second corner the ball found Chinglensana’s head again, but his attempted shot went out for a goal kick. </ Liston Colaco was a constant threat on the left and disrupted the Nepalese defense with his pace and dribbling.

At the hour, the Blue Tigers equalized for the ball by substitute Thapa, who showed a lot of attention at close range.
Chhetri’s violent shot from 25 meters could only be fired by Kiran into the six-yard area and a storming Thapa was there to quickly head for the ricochet react and score.
Rahim almost scored a quick second goal with a shot from outside the box shortly after, but his shot went just wide of the wrong side of the post.
Lalengmawia replaced Suresh Wangjam in the 63rd minute and Bipin Singh came on for Chhetri in the 70th minute as India pushed for the green goal.
With ten minutes remaining, Nepal’s Bishal Rai found room to shoot in the penalty area, but his shot was prompt fended off by Rahul Bheke, as Gurpreet conceded without any problems.
The two teams will be in action again on Sunday at the second international friendly game, which will be played at the same location.
The SAFF championships with five teams will take place from 3rd to 13th October in the National Stadium in Male.
