Dublin: Rain meant that the first one-day international match between Ireland and South Africa was abandoned in Malahide on Sunday.

Conditions allowed then failed to initiate a response from South Africa, and the game was abandoned around 5.15 p.m.

Both sides scored five points in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League before the second ODI on Tuesday. The third and final ODI will take place on Friday.

The second half of the IPL will take place from September 19 to October 15, while the T20 World Cup will start on October 17.
