The strange feature of the Democratic Party’s foreign policy, going back at least four decades, is that our friends must be bullied and our enemies appeased. The democratic worldview holds that America is a source of geopolitical evil, the destructive influences of which must be tamed and contained, and that America’s enemies must be encouraged to turn the global playing field from America’s harmful environment.
The Barack Obama administration embodied this toxic ideology through its single-minded pursuit of a nuclear deal with the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism during the president’s second term. Many of the leading Hucksters, which included Team Obama’s « negotiators » with Tehran – including Wendy Sherman, Robert Malley and Colin Kahl – are now repeating their roles during Uncle Joe Biden’s third Obama term.
Nobody embodied the Obama Bros’ back tango with the mullahs better than then Secretary of State John Kerry. Kerry, the « statesman » who has been on the wrong side on all major foreign policy issues since at least the Swift Boats of Vietnam, has betrayed his country across borders as Obama’s chief diplomatic lackey. Kerry was not satisfied with selling the farm – and dozens of unlabelled pallets of US taxpayers’ money – to a mullocracy with immeasurable American blood as a diplomat, and then treacherously negotiated as a layman with his buddy, the Iranian Foreign Secretary Javad Zarif to undermine the Trump administration’s Iranian containment strategy for « maximum pressure ».
Unfortunately, we now know that it appears to be worse. New audio leaked appears to reveal that Kerry, now Team Biden’s special climate envoy, has given Zarif the details of over 200 covert Israeli military operations against Iranian targets in Syria. One may refuse to blindly accept the claims of a racket like Zarif, but in this case the shoe fits. This is who John Forbes Kerry is – who he always was and always will be.
And if confirmed, what an utter, shambolic shame it is. The man who was America’s leading diplomat on the world stage at the time betrayed our Israeli allies with ruthless devotion and chose instead to prop up a rogue jihadist state and its barbaric Syrian satrapy. Rational American allies around the world will respond to this perfidy by entrusting the US with less confidential military intelligence. And for what purpose, aside from the perverse, selfish gratification of the culprits of Team Obama’s « echo chamber »?
The American left often reacts with confusion or defiance when accused of harboring a barely-hidden anti-American animus . With this latest example of the full depth of left anti-Israel zeal and pro-Iranian sycophancy, perhaps the next time liberals will react with less confusion. Meanwhile, John Kerry has helped cement his hideous legacy as an idiot at best – and as a traitorous anti-Western ideologist at worst.
