Broadcasters Alan Jones and Ray Hadley will be delivering eulogies at the state funeral of rugby league great Bob Fulton on Friday morning.
NSW’s State of Origin team and the entire Manly squad – from the NRL to junior path players – will form a joint guard of honor for Fulton, who died of cancer on May 23.
Sea Eagles players have the number 175 – Fulton’s official club number – embroidered on their Sea Eagles jerseys.
In addition to Jones and Hadley, Fulton’s son Brett and his close friend Peter Peters will also give eulogies.
Judge Geoff Bellew and former rugby league players Ian Schubert and Ian Barkley who coached Fulton will be giving readings.
Handwritten letters from Fulton’s grandchildren are placed on his coffin along with a Manly hat and a Sea Eagles flag with the Footy legend on it.
It’s the same flag that proudly waved on Manly Beach during the club’s 75th anniversary celebrations earlier this year.
« It will be a day when not only will the rugby league honor a great champion, but the entire sports and community at large will greet the immortal Bobby Fulton, » said Peters.
The funeral begins at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney. The mourners are asked to be seated by 10.15 a.m.
