Spieth started the late final round at Liberty National and made three bogeys and a birdie on his first eight holes.
On the ninth par-4, Spieth hit his left tee shot into the water. Spieth had to fall 353 meters out of the hole because of the crossing of the ball. After the penalty shot, he struck his third shot into the stream that cuts the center of the hole.
After he finally carded his 7, Spieth hit his tee shot O.B. right on par-4 10. One penalty drop and three swings later he was finally on the green, on which he made two putts for his second straight 7.
That brought Spieth to 8 over par and 1 over par that day for the tournament. He dropped another shot on the 12th hole, but birding 13th and 14th.
