Luca Vildoza, the Spanish combo guard, has finally signed his contract with the Knicks, a source confirmed.
Once he clears immigration and COVID-19 testing protocols, Vildoza is likely to join the club – maybe by the weekend.
ESPN said the deal is four years and $ 13.6 million, but most of it is not guaranteed, according to a source. Sources say Vildoza had other offers and the Knicks had to sweeten the deal.
25-year-old Vildoza is from Argentina and is the second point guard from that country to recently play for the Knicks after Pablo Prigioni’s successful stint. Vildoza played for Baskonia last season. According to Spanish reports, the Knicks Baskonia may have to pay $ 2 million in a buyout settlement.
« He’s tough, » an NBA scout said of Vildoza. « He’s an excellent passerby, marksman and has been consistent in Baskonia. He has a good feel for the game. »
The Knicks will have a roster seat when Jared Harper’s 10-day contract expires this week or they take him earlier Vildoza averaged 10.1 points per game in the Spanish league and shot 37.6 percent out of 3-point range.
