CM – Liverpool are looking to sign Ibrahima Konate for £ 30.5million

Liverpool will sign French center-back Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig, who beat several other Premier League clubs to sign a five-year deal with the 21-year-old.

Jürgen Klopp has been following the former Sochaux player for some time and Liverpool are ready to pay the defender’s release clause of € 35million. Liverpool have had center-back injury issues throughout their defense of their Premier League title. Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joël Matip were out for the remainder of the season.

The injuries resulted in Liverpool loaning Ozan Kabak from Schalke and Ben Davies for £ 1.6m from Preston North End in January. The club still have the option to sign Kabak on a permanent basis for £ 18million in the summer. The Turkish defender has impressed after a difficult start and has formed a solid defense partnership with Nathaniel Phillips over the past few weeks.

Liverpool have a good relationship with RB Leipzig after signing Naby Keita for £ 52.7m in 2018. Konaté has played 64 Bundesliga games for RB Leipzig since joining in 2017. Chelsea were one of the clubs interested in signing the player this summer but never got him far enough to make an official offer.
