French President Emmanuel Macron called Prime Minister Scott Morrison a liar on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rome.
Macron said he was surprised to see its participation in the AUKUS agreement with the United States and Australia Britain announced.
He says Franco-Australian relations deteriorated after Australia pulled out of its submarine deal with France.
Scott Morrison claims the deal was in Australia’s best interests – and was recently pushed for comments before leaving Rome.
Visibly shaken at a media conference in Rome, the Prime Minister denied lying to President Macron, claiming that Australia’s relationship with France was not based on the national interest place.
