A magnitude 5.7 earthquake occurred south of the Philippine capital Manila, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) announced.
The quake occurred early Monday morning at a depth of 74 km , so that aftershocks and damage can be expected.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in the province of Occidental Mindoro, and it was felt in Manila.
The country is located on the geologically active Pacific Ring of Fire and experiences above all else frequent quakes in the south.
