The late MF DOOM hopped on a remix of The Avalanches’ « Tonight May Have To Last Me All My Life, » which will appear on the 20th anniversary edition of the group’s debut album Since I Left You.
The previously unheard vocal contribution is a bittersweet tribute to the late artist, who allows the track to play for just under three minutes. In addition to MF DOOM, fans can look forward to further remixes by Prince Paul and Leon Vynehall with the original 18-track project.
Since I Left You was released in Australia in 2000 and in the USA and Great Britain in 2001 and reached number 10 in the U.S. Top Dance / Electronic Albums and 31st in the U.S. Top Heatseekers albums.
« I’ve remembered a few things very well since I left you … » wrote Robbie Chater on Instagram. “We chose not to have any of our votes on what made it permanent because it’s some kind of broadcast; nothing date stamps it at that time. Also, we made sure not to use any cool software from 1999 or 2000. So it seems like it’s just floating around in time. Music lovers get it, and we ultimately are. It’s almost like exploring our relationship with the world and music and, as musicians, taking our place in the whole process. Thank you for being with us on this journey. It was 20 years ago and counts. »
