CM – Ocon and Russell increase starting penalties for Mexico

Five drivers will face starting penalties at the Mexico City Grand Prix after the drops have been confirmed for Esteban Ocon and George Russell.

Ocon is the fourth driver to pick up a new engine and commit to doing so Starting at the end of the grid, making it 16 of the 20 cars that have outperformed engine components so far this season. The Alpine driver joins Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda and Lance Stroll with such a penalty, whereby the quartet will have a private battle with each other later in the afternoon in qualifying in order not to start in the back row.

Above all Fourth will be Russell, who has taken a new gearbox and as a result receives a starting penalty of five places. Russell had a gearbox problem during FP2 and Williams was using his racing gearbox at the time.

Even though Russell is slower than all the other drivers taking a starting penalty, he will start before them as the other four all have the punishments that Require a start on the grid.
