According to a press release, the Pearl Harbor-Hickam Joint Base carried out a lockdown on Tuesday secure all grassroots gates in response to a « potential security incident ».
The lockdown announcement caused confusion among some grassroots and community members as it was based on a pre-planned anti-terrorism exercise called Citadel Protect.
« All hands are instructed to protect themselves north of South Avenue and west of North Avenue » and « all vehicles should restrict their travel on the streets and give way to emergency vehicles, » said base spokesman David Hodge. Details were not given.
