Pokemon GO features a range of in-game events and events that take place during the long weekend of Thanksgiving 2021. This series of events includes nothing less than one of the most powerful Pokemon in the Pokemon universe: Hoopa Unbound! We’ll also have Raid Hour Action, Cresselia, loads of blue Pokémon (like Squirtle with Sunglasses from Squirtle Squad), and a few bonus gift balloons from Ed Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran has officially made his transition from normal, very successful music artist to digital game universe actor with Niantic’s own Pokemon GO. His in-game appearance isn’t quite the same as that of artists who appeared in games like Fortnite or Roblox. Instead, the song Overpass Graffiti will be played in the game at night from November 22nd to 30th.
You can also see Ed Sheeran playing several songs from his new album by tapping the link in the message area of the Pokemon GO game UX. Until then, we’ll see a number of bonus gift balloons floating around (tap them to get free items) and some special hoodies in the in-game shop.
In mid-November we started seeing Mega Lopunny in Mega Raids around the world! This Thanksgiving weekend will be the perfect opportunity for you and yours to find a place where you can band together and have a fighting chance to actually defeat this great monster. Mega Lopunny will leave the raid circuit from December 1st, 2021.
You will also see Cresselia in Raid Battles through December 1st. Both Cresselia and Mega Lopunny have the potential to be Shiny Pokemon. Cresselia, trapped during this phase of the fight, will know the grass knot train! A Cresselia raid hour will take place on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. local time.
From November 26th, a raid hour event will take place every evening from 6:00 p.m. local time. Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres will perform on November 26th. Heatran will be unveiled on November 27th. On November 28th there will be a raid hour with Regirock, Regice and Registeel. The November 29th Raid Hour event includes Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion.
On the same days as the special Raid Hour events listed above, Pokemon GO will offer one Spotlight Hour per day at an odd time. We generally see Spotlight Hour at 6:00 p.m., but since we have raid hour events then we get Spotlight Hours from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. local time.
The Spotlight Hour events will feature potentially shiny Pokémon each day, and each event will feature a Pokémon that you have probably stolen 10 billion of, except for the last one. On November 26th there is a spotlight hour for Rattata, on November 27th there is an event for Sableye. There is a Pikachu raid lesson on November 28th and a raid lesson with Bedlum on November 29th!
From November 26th at 10:00 AM local time to November 29th at 8:00 PM local time, we’re seeing two all-encompassing bonuses. One bonus gives you 2x transfer sweets, the other gives you 2x catch XP. Hence, you want to catch and release Pokémon like you’ve never done before!
As we went through the release of Furfrou, we saw the beginning of functionality for a new mechanic in Pokemon GO. That mechanic was the shape change or just « forms » if you wish. Changing shapes in Pokemon GO is similar to evolution – but a shape change can be changed back while an evolution lasts forever.
After completing the seasonal Misunderstood Mischief Special Research story, you will have access to Mischief’s new Unbound Special Research. You have until Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 9:59 a.m. local time to complete the research you’ve been working on for weeks – misunderstandings, nonsense. When you do, you will gain access to Mischief Unbound for free.
If you fail to complete Misunderstood Mischief by December 1st, you will need to purchase access to Mischief Unbound in the in-game shop for $ 4.99. But here’s the catch – if that’s not enough – you need to purchase this ticket by December 1st.
So, if you’ve got to the point where you’re going through Misunderstood Mischief but you know there is no way you are going to get through it by December 1st, you can get access to Mischief Unbound. But you still need to complete Misunderstood Mischief to complete Mischief Unbound.
In other words – Misunderstood Mischief will continue to be accessible after the December 1st deadline. However, if you want access to Mischief Unbound, you must either complete Misunderstood Mischief OR purchase access to Mischief Unbound before December 1, 2021.
Once you have completed both Missunderstood Mischief and Unbound Unbound, you can allow Hoopa (Confined) to change form to Hoopa (Unbound)! This change in shape requires 50 Hoopa candies and 10,000 stardust (bound to unbound) or 10 hoopa candies and 2,000 stardust (unbound to bound).
When you complete Mischief Unbound, you’ll also get an extra chic Hoopa T-shirt. You could also simply buy the shirt in the shop after the event – that’s entirely up to you!
