A hospital in Patna, Bihar, has ordered up to 3,000 doses of the Sputnik Covid vaccine « Made in Russia » because it has an effectiveness rate of over 90%, said a doctor.
Arun Kumar, Medical Director of the Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital in Patna, gave two reasons for the increased use of Sputnik: First, the Russian vaccine is over 90% effective and another Covishield and Covaxin are available free of charge in state hospitals.
Dr. Kumar said, « We use Sputnik to vaccinate because of its effectiveness, which according to scientific reports is 92%. Second, Covishield and Covaxin are available for free in government hospitals, there is no point in copying this (vaccinating the same in private hospitals) . « .
He also announced that the hospital had only ordered 600 cans, but due to the positive public response, the hospital sold out in just three days.
« We only ordered 600 cans of Sputnik, but it’s surprising to see the public response. It’s not even 3 days and we’re sold out. We ordered another 2000-3000 cans, » added Kumar.
The Russian National Research Institute for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya developed Sputnik V and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) markets it worldwide.
Dr. However, Reddy’s Laboratories is the marketing partner for Sputnik V in the country and imports the recordings from Russia.

Sputnik V has been accepted by several countries, with Argentina claiming the vaccine helped save millions of lives. The World Health Organization (WHO) hasn’t approved the vaccine yet, but more than 60 countries have approved the emergency vaccine.
