CM – Surfer dies after being mangled by sharks on popular NSW Beach


A man has died on the north coast of New South Wales after being bitten by a shark.

The surfer, believed to be around 20 years old, was killed on Sunday morning on Emerald Beach near Coffs Harbor bitten in the arm and back.

Ambulance NSW Inspector Chris Wilson described it as « devastating to everyone on the beach this morning. » « A number of local surfers and onlookers came to the rescue of this man, them. » were incredibly brave in a very challenging situation, « he said.

 » The Westpac Rescue Helicopter brought a medical team to the ICU to continue treatment. «
