Brisbane Heat finished Thunders challenge at BBL10, but Matt Harris expects the Sydney franchise to take revenge.

« Lynn has a lot of responsibility at the top of the job, but the arrival of Ben Duckett can provide much-needed support. »

Sydney Thunder knocked out last year after finishing third in the regular season had finished. The team is scheduled for the second straight year on neutral ground and is returning to the Manuka Oval in Canberra, where they won four of their games at BBL10 and lost four of their games.

The thunder beyond the regular season was Alex Hales, who was the league’s top scorer with 543 runs from 15 innings. The former England opener scored a second goal for the Sydney franchise and this time is clearly defining their chances.

Thunder should move back into the playoffs based on Hales’ power, while crank Chris Green and Tanveer Sangha balanced a skilled melee attack with Daniel Sams and Ben Cutting.

These two teams shared group stage victories before Brisbane Heat eliminated Thunder in that knockout game. Chris Lynn’s team reached the Challenger but lost to the Perth Scorchers in a rain-hit game.

The heat was increased in the final stages with the return of Marnus Labuschagne from test service, but they look vulnerable when he’s not on the team. Lynn carries a lot of responsibility at the head of the Order, but the arrival of Ben Duckett can provide the much-needed support.

Captainship goes to Jimmy Peirson for BBL11 and Heat fans should keep an eye out for formidable Somerset batsman Tom Abel as well who will compete after duty by the England Lions.

The Manuka Oval in Canberra leaps into the breach, but after extensive hosting at BBL10, only two games will be played here this season. In the 2020/21 season, 13 games were played on the site and an average of 170 points were scored in the first innings.

Sydney Thunder has exceeded the 200 mark twice here while taking heavy wins over the two Melbourne franchises recorded. As we’ve seen in T20 cricket around the world, wins tended to favor the pursuers, but the Thunders like to hit first and hit big.

The Thunder start as a favorite to win at 1,855 / 6, with Brisbane Heat enclosed 2.0811 / 10. The impending rain could certainly make the throw an important decision, but we can currently only make a judgment based on the relative qualities of the two teams.

In the loft division, both sides are similar in the sense that they are strong leave a man. If Hales or Lynn fall cheap, the opposition has a clear advantage.

Where Sydney Thunder cuts that for me in the bowling department: The experience of Sams and Cutting, balanced by one of the best spin attacks in the competition, closes them my tip. Expect another strong tournament from the Tanveer Sangha that could get under the radar of international voters if only he can improve his strokes.

Standing behind Alex Hales in any top batsman market can be dangerous. He’s generally making more positive headlines when he hits the field of cricket, but high scores can hide inconsistencies.

Earlier this year, I saw England’s T20 Blast make an initial ball-duck at the derby before hitting him the next day a century against Lancashire ensued. This sequence sums up Alex more, but I’m going to use an OddsBoost on sports betting that will raise him to 12/5 to be Sydney’s leading running shooter.

Other options in this market are Sam Billings on 3/1, Sam Whiteman on 4/1 and Alex Ross on 6/1.

Consider Duckett as the leader of the resistance in Brisbane

If Ben Duckett can take his form from England’s national season, Brisbane should have no problem making the playoffs. The left-handed was productive for Notts in the T20 Blast, ranking second on the list of leading running shooters for the newly formed Hundred tournament.

Duckett tends to stay in shape when he finds his touch and when you do looking for a third pick he looks generous at 16/5 on sports betting to get the best score for Brisbane. Chris Lynn is the favorite at 21/10 while other options include Max Bryant at 7/2 and Tom Cooper at 13/2.
