PETALING JAYA: The 268,800 AstraZeneca vaccination stations in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were used in about three and a half hours after registration opened yesterday at noon.

Initially there was frustration and confusion, when many thought that all available slots were used up just minutes after registration was opened.

However, constant tweets from Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin and online public discussions led to the determination to register in order to be protected from Covid-19.

A few minutes before registration opened, Khairy had given a glimpse into the booking page, with the dates and venues clearly displayed.

However, the applicants began the survey, when they only saw fields for their MyKad or their passport and their contact numbers when they signed up.

The situation became even more puzzling than ai Some people said they managed to register for a slot at 11 a.m., an hour before the website officially opened.

Khairy, co-chair of the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccines (JKJAV) , however made it clear on social media that any bookings made before noon yesterday were not recorded as a previously displayed link, but only serve as a test pen.

The situation was resolved around 12.15pm, when on the premises Dates from May 5th to June 6th in vaccination centers in the World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur, in the Ideal Convention Center Shah Alam, in the examination hall of the University of Malaya and in Dewan Gemilang at the University of Kebangsaan Malaysia.

From then on was in a hurry to book a slot. Some said they had to update the site multiple times or select a different date and location before they finally received a message congratulating them.

About an hour and a half after registration opened, about 100,000 slots were occupied and all slots were gone in less than four hours.

But Khairy assured those interested that they could still be on the waiting list and receive another million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine this month via the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility (Covax ) would arrive.

« We will extend the opt-in to other states, with the exception of Sarawak, which has declined, and ensure that those without internet access can also register, » he said.

The Persistence paid off for marketing director Susan Lim, who said she was concerned for about 30 minutes before she finally managed to keep herself, her parents and business apart wister.

“I kept checking Twitter to see what others had been through and found that some people had managed to register. So I didn’t give up and went back to the page to update it.

A 28-year-old writer who only wanted to be known as Izzaty said she almost gave up after running out of space several times, but was determined again when a colleague said the website was working again and she could register for herself and her man.
