The first full-length trailer of the next two-part special from Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has been revealed. Under the title The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown, the new program follows the trio on their journey through beautiful Scotland in some American land yachts from the 1970s.

As the name of the special suggests, this particular piece was filmed while the UK was under lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. While this was responsible for keeping Clarkson, Hammond and May closer to home than we were used to in recent years, the special aims to bring back the feel of their early days on the BBC. If the trailer is something, we’ll be happy.

The focus of the action is a Lincoln Continental Mark V, a Cadillac Coupe de Ville and a Buick Riviera from the Malaise era. Not the most exciting machines to get out of the US, but perfect for a road trip of this kind. The trailer shows some adventures around the city of Edinburgh as well as the construction of a floating bridge over the Hebridean Sea. Due to lockdown restrictions, the trio are also forced to adopt their least preferred form of accommodation: caravans.

The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown will make its official debut on Amazon Prime Video on July 30th. It may not take place in a location as exotic as Madagascar, but the new special might be the best of the Grand Tour era yet.
