The US Department of Veterans Affairs announced Monday that it will be the first federal agency to require healthcare workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 within the next two months.

« I’m doing this because it’s the best way is about protecting our veterans, period, « Veterans Affairs secretary Denis McDonough told the New York Times of the new requirement that 115,000 of the department’s health workers be vaccinated.

The Veterans Affairs mandate applies to everyone Frontline health workers such as doctors, nurses and dentists, McDonough told the Times. Veterans Affairs is the largest integrated health system in the United States, serving more than 9 million veterans in 171 medical centers and 1,112 outpatient facilities whole country.
