With the latest Fast and Furious hit theaters this week, the folks at SpeedKore wanted to show the street version of Dominic Toretto’s F9 drive. For those unfamiliar with the Fast and Furious franchise, Vin Diesel’s character Toretto has an affinity for over-the-top Dodge Chargers. If you’re in the wild muscle car market, namely those with Mopar badges, SpeedKore is the place for you. And considering this Charger has a Hellcat mid-engine, the company didn’t pull any punches.
That’s right, this 1969 Dodge Charger has a 6.2 liter Dodge Hellcat engine that is mounted behind the driver. Installing the motor meant that SpeedKore had to build a custom frame. While the Hellcat mid-engine may be impressive enough to grab attention at SEMA or your local auto show, SpeedKore doesn’t stop there.
If you’re familiar with SpeedKore and what the company’s parts range, this probably isn’t a big surprise, however the body of the car is made of carbon fiber. This is not only an impressive technical achievement, but also a really interesting approach to customizing classic cars.
Of course, with a name like “Hellacious”, you probably expect the car to come with loads of suspension and braking accessories. A set of Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear stops the Custom Charger. Drifting is a must, so there is also a hydraulic handbrake.
This Charger is completely over the top and nothing less than what we would expect from Toretto at this point in his fictional career. We’re also delighted that SpeedKore appears to have thrown this street-worthy beast out of the park.
