Huge 3,000 additional home lots are opened on the Sunshine Coast as the state government accelerates new land for housing.
Deputy Prime Minister Steven Miles said an additional subdivision of 3,091 lots in Aura, Caloundra South’s priority development area, would provide land for new homes in addition to the 3,000 new residential areas being developed in Caboolture West by the state government’s Growth Areas Team program were announced.
« The larger area of Caboolture West is expected to have around 30,000 homes for around 70,000 people and create nearly 23,000 jobs, » says Miles.
« The Moreton Bay Regional Council, Unitywater, landowners, Department of Transportation and Major Roads and the Growth Areas team are already working to bring this land to market faster.
« The Growth Areas team has identified the key markets to address current land supply issues in Southeast Queensland.
The number of women entering traditionally male-dominated construction training has doubled in the last ten years.
According to Construction Skills Queensland, the number of construction apprenticeships has increased from one in 50 in 2011 to one in 25 last year.
The surge comes as no surprise to Brighton carpenter Tony Galea, whose company Fairdinkum Carpentry would recommend female apprentices for their determination and work ethic.
« I’ve been through so many male trainees and women are better, » said Mr. Galea, who owns the company along with his wife, Madonna.
