CM – Tyronn Lue says the adjustments to Clippers will come in spurts

The Clippers lead the league on "open strokes" but they are not making enough of it, so Lue intends to give Paul George more frequent but shorter breaks in an attempt to limit her offensive breaks. ...

LOS ANGELES – Tyronn Lue said he had some adjustments planned for Game 6 of 82, Monday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. But none of these changes were as drastic as changing his line-up.

The typical five of the Clippers’ starters took to the pitch at the Staples Center on Monday: Paul George, Eric Bledsoe, Reggie Jackson, Ivica Zubac and Nicolas Batum (a starter when Marcus Morris Sr. is unavailable due to an injury of the left knee).

« Like the rotations of guys that come into play, who’s playing with whom, and the guys who have shorter stints and the like, » said Lue, who said he wanted to avoid six minutes in a row, awarding Paul George to play.

George was largely the only reliable source of the Clippers offensive early on, averaging 27.6 points per game with 50% shots from the field. Your offensive rating with him on the pitch: 104.5. Your offensive review with him off the ground? It’s a paltry 96.0.

In the 116:92 defeat in Portland on Friday, George finished the game with 2:51 to go in the first period after scoring nine points and leading his team 21:18. When he returned in the second period, 8:05 minutes behind, the Clippers had only scored six more points, nine behind.

« Don’t skip PG for six minutes at a time and then we’ll end up in a selective drought, » said Lue. “I’m just trying to play PG in three stints to keep him on the ground so his rest is minimal now, three minutes instead of six minutes, things like that. We will try that tonight, in the future.  »

And when someone needs to score besides George, Lue wants their team to keep doing what they are doing – but with more confidence.

« From an analytical point of view, we get good shots, we make good shots, we just don’t take them, » said Lue, referring to the fact that the Clippers were leading the league in « open » ahead of Monday’s game ” Shots, at 28.4 per game, with the closest defender between 4 and 6 feet away. The problem: only 35.2% of them went down.

“We’re getting seven more open shots per game than last year, so the shots are there, we just have to step up and take them. If not, we need to be confident of taking them anyway. If you’re 2 for 4, 2 for 5, or 2 for 20, if it’s your shot then you have to step up and take it or you will likely get a worse shot.

« So just stick with the game plan, keep stepping up the paint and making a game for your teammates and all we have to do is step up and take shots. »

If the Clippers are still struggling to take their scoring opportunities in a couple of weeks, the rotation shifts could be more substantial, Lue said.

But there will be « 10, 15 games » before Lue sends home a testimonial, he said, noting that he cares more about the bank’s production than what he gets out of his starters .

The NBA released images and information on this season’s league-wide Nike NBA City Edition jerseys, which follow a « Moments Mixtape » theme, intended as an ode to the NBA’s 75th anniversary.

The version of the Clippers contains a mixture of six moments in the team’s history. It’s a tribute to the franchise’s roots in Buffalo, New York (a Braves logo on the waistband) and its move to San Diego (the Pacific blue colorway). The design also incorporates the popular italic font that was used in the 2014-15 season.

The Clippers will wear the jerseys 10 times starting November 13th when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.
