The New York Jets and New York Giants are ready to fight at MetLife Stadium tonight, August 14th, and these head-to-head matches should get a lot of attention.

New York Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams will play against the New York Jets on November 10, 2019.

In preparation for today’s pre-season kick-off at MetLife Stadium between the New York Jets and the New York Giants, we’ve already listed a few storylines, including stars and unknown names.

There are also a few headers head-to-head matches that really stand out. As we know, both teams plan to use this early duel to develop younger players and set the first round of squad cuts. The Giants in particular are likely to have a lot of starters like Daniel Jones and Kenny Golladay.

Joe Judge said the #Giants treat the Jets preseason game as the traditional fourth preseason game, which is a heavy effort from the young boys and means squad bubble boys.

On the flip side, head coach Robert Saleh stated that he plans to play most of his first team starters for « about a quarter » with rookie Zach Wilson leading that group / p> Other than that, most of the action tonight could come from people fighting for their lives out there in the field. That should make for dramatic television as football is finally in the air.

This part focuses on matchups that should start the game but may not go as deep into the action.

The former first-round pick of the Jets in 2015 will be due for the second time since trading across town in 2019 against its old franchise on August 14th. The other, Michael Carter II, will play his first preseason game with the team.

However, Williams won’t keep up with the Nickelback, he’ll likely line up between left tackle Becton and left security guard Dan Feeney. The Giants will pair the 3-4 defensive end with outer linebackers Oshane Ximines and / or Lorenzo Carter.

Becton is trained at the training camp by edge rusher Carl Lawson. Beat reporter Connor Hughes best described it in his podcast « Can’t Wait » and said, « This is not an iron that grinds iron, it’s like being hit on the head with an iron bar every day. » p> The left tackle has to prove that his camp performance is down to Lawson’s skill rather than his own shortcomings.

Speaking of left tackles, the G-Men designed one again in 2020. Thomas was selected in fourth place overall, seven picks ahead of Becton. According to the Giants’ unofficial depth map, 2020 third-round player Peart is expected to start on the opposite end instead of veteran Nate Solder.

This young offensive line has had even more problems than the Jets in recent years, and these two must show they are Jones In 2021. Your first big test will likely be Lawson, but who knows how many snaps the superstar Edge Rusher will be playing tonight. They should get more work against Huff and Franklin-Myers, who were wild in their own way this summer.

With Elijah Moore in doubt about playing after a quad injury, the limelight shifts to Davis at the wide receiver – at least in the first quarter. He has developed a connection with Wilson as a reliable safety net and threat to the red zone at camp, and he will try to maintain that connection while he’s on the field.

Not enough emphasis is placed on Corey Davis is a significant upgrade at WR1 for the #Jets

If he plays Bradberry is the most likely cornerback to take on Davis. The ex-Carolina Panthers had an excellent year one in New York with an outstanding 79.8 player rating from Pro Football Focus in 2020 and a coverage rating of 79.9.

This could be an intriguing battle to take place after the starters occupy the bank. Mims got off to a difficult start to his second season with an uninspiring camp that contributed to his free fall into the wide receiver ranks of the Jets. To muffle the outside noise, he needs to start stacking his performances with a more even game.

The narrative couldn’t be more contradicting for rookie six-round Williams, who is the brother of Cleveland Browns aspirant Greedy Williams. The Giants corner was a pleasant surprise this summer and played well enough to be considered for a starting job or at least a backup role for the second team.

An area I’m particularly looking forward to is this young cornerback core of the Jets. After Bryce Hall and Bless Austin hit their reps, rookies like Jason Pinnock, Brandin Echols, Carter II and Isaiah Dunn (if healthy) are expected to get as much work as possible in today’s preseason opener. Coach Saleh hopes that one of these players can one day take on a starting role and that the first real casting will take place in front of the fans on August 14th.

Don’t expect too much burn from the Giants’ first team’s wide receivers, based on Head Coach Joe Judge’s comments, but substitutes like Sills have turned heads in the camp. Pettis is also a talented wide-out who started earlier in San Francisco, while Sills is more of a surprise that was a ray of hope all summer.

My initial inspiration for this piece was actually from an article I read by New York Post reporter Ryan Dunleavy about the personal story between Jets -Rookie linebacker Nasirildeen and Giants 2021 first-round pick Toney. When the Florida State Security (then) tore his cruciate ligament, the tragic injury actually happened while he was attempting to attack Florida rival Toney.

The seedy receiver is dynamic after the catch and actually became Miss Receiver before Ole Moore, who obviously ended up with the Jets. He’s had a tough training camp full of injuries and staying on the COVID list while Nasirildeen is currently listed as the weak side linebacker for the Jets. This year’s clash at MetLife Stadium was supposed to have a beautiful redemption matchup before news broke that Toney was unlikely to play.

Tonight’s preseason kick-off: Giants vs Jets at 7:30 p.m. It can be seen locally on NBC.

Because the Giants wouldn’t expect to see: Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Kyle Rudolph, John Ross, Kadarius Toney.

Even if Toney took the field, Nasirildeen told reporters that it was there is no additional rivalry between the two newcomers. « I just honestly think he’s a good player and I like the way he plays the game, but I don’t care about things like that, I have to attack people every day, » the Jets linebacker explained.
