JAMMU: The Mata Vaishno Devi yatra is progressing smoothly despite the early Saturday morning rush that killed 12 people and injured several others, an official spokesman said, adding that around 27,000 pilgrims during the day prayed at the cave shrine.

After the rush, the rescue operation was immediately initiated by a joint team from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the district administration, the police and the CRPF, the government spokesman said in a statement, adding: « The situation was brought under control within a week, five minutes time « .

» The yatra continues smoothly, approximately 27,000 pilgrims have done darshan at the holy shrine today (Saturday), « said the spokesman.

He said, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of the shrine board, has personally monitored the whole situation since the early morning and also visited the super specialty hospital Kakryal and inquired about and interacted with the health of the injured pilgrims.

He also directed officials to ensure the voluntary amount previously announced by the government of Rs 10 lakhs for the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs for the injured should be easily released in favor of the legal heirs. said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, the members of the committee of inquiry investigating the incident visited the site of the incident in Bhawan tonight and made a first-hand report.

The officers interacted with the chief executive officer, SMVDSB, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, SP Katra, commanding officer CRPF, subdivision judge Bhawan and other officials and also checked the video footage, said the spokesman.

He said the committee had mentioned that further details are being sought after which conclusive results can be drawn.

At first glance, however, it seems that some kind of small scuffle between a few pilgrims could have led to the rush near gate number 3, where the path has a steep incline, said the spokesman.

He said the ADGP and Divisional Commissioner commended the efforts of the Shrine Board field service teams, the county government, the police force and the CRPF to who manned the Bhawan area for acting swiftly and immediately controlling the situation, averting further casualties.

The three-person panel set up to investigate the onslaught was called upon under an official order issued on Saturday to submit his report to the government of Jammu and Kashmir within a week.

The committee chaired by the chief secretary (house) was formed by Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha.

In one issued tonight on behalf of the government of J&K On the order, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, the chief secretary of the general administration department, said the high-level body was set up to investigate the reasons for the tragic incident.

The other two members of the committee are Jammu District Commissioner Raghav Langer, and the additional Director General of Police, Jammu, Mukesh Singh.

« The committee will determine the causes / reasons of the incident (Stamp ede) thoroughly investigate and point out the failures and determine who is responsible, « the order says.

It said the committee would submit its report to the government within a week and also propose an appropriate standard
