Irgil van Dijk returned to the game for Liverpool in the friendly against Hertha Berlin.
The 30-year-old defender was out for nine months after a serious knee injury and was substituted on for the pre-season game in Austria on Thursday.
He’s been out since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee at the Merseyside Derby against Everton last October.
Joe Gomez also returned after an eight month hiatus from a knee injury, another welcome sight for Liverpool, who lost the game at Tivoli Stadium in Innsbruck 4-3.
Liverpool will start the Premier League season 2021-22 away in Norwich City on August 14, when Van Dijk hopes to play his first competitive game in 10 months .
