Nottingham: After England star all-rounder Ben Stokes spoke about his mental health, India’s captain Virat Kohli backed Ben Stokes’ decision to take an indefinite break on Tuesday.
Kohli’s comments came when the importance of the Concern for one’s own mental health came into the spotlight amid bold decisions by the likes of Stokes, Simone Bies and Naomi Osaka.
Kohli said the July break was a much needed distraction for the Indian players. India’s players and coaches were given a three-week break between the end of the Test World Cup in June and the start of the England Series in August.
In a speech to the press on the eve of the 1st Test in Nottingham, Virat Kohli said: “Periodic breaks are important for the players. I’m sure more players like Ben Stokes will take breaks just to deal with this tough bubble life. I think this break last month came at the right time for me. ”
“ Having the time to get used to the conditions is a bit of an advantage for us this time around. Also, many of our players have experience playing here. I’m confident that one or the other player can help the team in any situation, ”said Kohli.
