DK Metcalf races the 100m against some of the US elite sprinters at the USATF Golden Games on Sunday, live on Peacock as part of more than five hours of broadcast coverage.
Metcalf, the recipient of Seattle Seahawks drew the second of two 100-meter runs at 3:40 p.m. ET at Mt. SAC in Walnut, California.
The nine fastest men out of 18 from the two heats make it to the final at 5:03 pm. on NBC, NBCSports.com/live and the NBC Sports app.
Metcalf, a hurdler and triple jumper in high school who fell by the wayside in college, might be trying to apply for the US Olympic exams in June to qualify.
He will probably have to pause for 10.2 seconds. A 5/10 would automatically qualify for trials.
The more realistic question is whether Metcalf can qualify for the finals on Sunday. Two weeks ago at the USATF Grand Prix it took 10.44 to get out of a field of similar strength in the heats.
Rio Olympian Mike Rodgers is at the top of the 100 meter starting list on Sunday. The four best men in the USA are not registered.
Allyson Felix and Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo can be seen on the women’s 200m. In Rio Miller-Uibo prevailed with 400 m gold against Felix by 0.07. Felix will probably drive the 200m and 400m in trials. Miller-Uibo said she will only ride the 200m in Tokyo.
World Champion Noah Lyles makes headlines in the men’s 200m. He will meet the second fastest American, Kenny Bednarek, and the 17-year-old professional Erriyon Knighton.
First look at the sporting phenomenon of the @NFL wide receiver &, DK Metcalf, before his 100 meter race tomorrow! I think it will hold its own.
