A woman was killed on a freeway in southeast Melbourne after she stopped to help the driver of a crashed car.
A car drove east on Heatherton Road at around 3.15am on Monday, when it hit a traffic light and came to a stop on the Monash Freeway.
The driver of the other car that hit the traffic light was taken to hospital seriously injured.
The woman has not yet been identified and the driver of the car she hit is helping the police with their investigation.
The Monash Freeway has been closed and there are delays due to the crash between Heatherton Road and Stud Road.
Motorists have been asked to stop the Use Prince Highway as an alternative, and emergency services manage traffic.
