CM – World Rugby Sevens Series returns when the new campaign begins in Dubai

The men’s Olympic champions, Fiji, will be looking to kick off the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series with a win when the new campaign begins in Dubai.

The two-time Olympic champions compete in Pool A, where they face off the competition from Australia, Canada and France compete.

Argentina, USA, Kenya and Spain compete in pool B, while South Africa, Great Britain, Ireland and Japan compete in pool C.

The two best teams each Group reach the quarter-finals as well as the two best third-placed finishers.

New Zealand is the reigning champions of men and women who triumphed in the 2019-2020 season but is absent due to travel problems due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New Zealand secured the Olympic rugby seventh title at the rescheduled Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo earlier this year, where they defeated France in the final.

« After not playing in the series for almost two years, it’s a really exciting start in Dubai.

« It’s been a huge year and this is our first stepping stone to the tournaments at the end of the season and Paris 2024 is coming very quickly so we have to start hard here in Dubai. »

The Olympic bronze medalists Fiji are at the top of a Pool B line-up that includes Great Britain, Canada, Ireland and Russia.

Great Britain will take part in the first two rounds of the 2021 calendar year under an agreement Series, but will return to England in the women’s series.

The pool games start tomorrow and end on Saturday (27. November), if the knockout phase is also held.

The pool winners contest the finals, with the second-placed teams advancing for third place.

Dubai hosts consecutive series events, with the second competition on November 26th and 27th in the city of the United Arab Emirates.

Spain will then host two events in January, with the series also taking place in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore, France and England.

He has covered several continental events, including two editions the Pan American Games as well as the European Games, the Pacific Games and the Asian Winter Games.

Denver was awarded the 1976 Winter Olympics, ahead of Sion in Switzerland, Tempere in Finland and Vancouver in Canada at the 1970 International Olympic Committee meeting. But in a November 1972 referendum in Colorado, voters turned down funding for the event. It is the only time that a city has won the Olympics but has withdrawn. The IOC then offered the games to Whistler in Canada, but they also declined due to a change of government after the elections. Salt Lake City offered to host the Games, but the IOC, still suffering from Denver’s rejection, declined, choosing Innsbruck, the host city of 1964, as its replacement.

The International Swimming Federation deleted Dr. Lothar Kipke, 21 years after he was convicted of doping with GDR swimmers in the 1970s and 1980s, from his honor roll. Mike Rowbottom asks how far the FINA’s investigation into GDR doping will go.
