Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s Latest Collaboration, Masters Of The Air, Coming to Apple TV+
Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, the dynamic duo behind the acclaimed HBO miniseries Band Of Brothers and The Pacific, are teaming up once again for their latest collaboration, Masters Of The Air. This time, Apple TV+ has secured the rights to the series, which is based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name. Masters Of The Air follows the harrowing experiences of the men of the 100th Bomb Group, known as the « Bloody Hundredth, » as they conduct dangerous bombing raids over Nazi Germany during World War II.
The series delves into the psychological and emotional toll paid by these young airmen as they face the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat at 25,000 feet in the air. Some were shot down and captured, some were wounded or killed, and some were fortunate enough to make it home. Regardless of their individual fates, all of them paid a price. Masters Of The Air aims to honor the brave men of the 8th Air Force who played a crucial role in defeating Nazi Germany.
Executive producer Gary Goetzman expresses his excitement about the opportunity to bring this important story to life on Apple TV+. The series will combine the efforts of talented individuals both on-screen and behind the camera. The cast includes Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.
Apple TV+ will release the series on January 26, with the first two episodes out of a total of nine. Masters Of The Air promises to be a gripping and visually stunning portrayal of a significant event in the history of warfare.
