A man driving a car was shot to death Saturday on the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach, authorities said.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol found a man deceased in a blue Hyundai Elantra, which sat in the center divider on the northbound lanes of the freeway, just south of the 605 Freeway, shortly after 6 p.m., said CHP Officer Duane Graham.
The man, described by Graham as in his mid-20s, had at least one gunshot wound, as paramedics declared the man dead at the scene.
Officers came to the scene after authorities had received a call about shots being fired on the freeway.
Investigators learned that the victim was shot sometime while driving on the 405 Freeway, which then caused him and his car to veer toward the left, colliding with a maroon Honda Accord, and then into the center divider, Graham said.
While the shooting investigation continued, the CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down all northbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway in the area, and are diverting traffic off at Seal Beach Boulevard.
