ATLANTA – A sea of empty chairs lined the lawn in front of the State Capitol, a solemn reminder of Sept.. 300 COVID-19-related deaths in Georgia.
The group « COVID Survivors for Change » organized the event and gathered at Liberty Plaza on Wednesday morning.
« I would like to see our leaders show some care and compassion and spark a response to the pandemic. « said Carol Lewis, who lost her father to illness.
Lewis, a Resident of Conyers, spoke at the event, which was partially virtual. Her 86-year-old father was a veteran of the Korean War.
Marjorie Roberts is a COVID-19 survivor but says the disease will change her life forever and she frequently suffers from what she calls COVID crashes. â ????
â ???? I never know when my breathing is going to go awry. I am tired all the time. I don’t have the energy I used to have. Is everything just different for me now? she said.
The group wants heads of state to step up to stop the virus from spreading and they encourage people to vote in the Georgia Senate runoff on Jan.. January to choose. 5.
« Think of people who vote for people who care about you and who want you to have your health care and save lives, » Lewis said.
