Better Homes and Gardens editor Dora Papas on the continuation of a legacy and the future of a lifestyle juggernaut
Australian Radio Network has announced Kate Langbroek as the new co-host on its early KIIS FM Drive Show, 3pm Pick-Up, after spending most of the past two years overseas in Italy.
Langbroek is returning to ARN where she hosted a national drive show between 2015 and 2017 with Dave Hughesy Hughes, who was announced as co-host of the new 2Day FM Sydney breakfast show.
Langbroek will work with Monty Dimond and Yumi Stynes from January 2021 as part of the 3pm pick-up show that leads to the Will and Woody Drive show.
ARN confirmed that Langbroek will be returning to Melbourne to broadcast the show. « After our family adventures in Italy, I look forward to going back to great Australia – and ARN – and speaking my native language radio, » she said.
« I can’t wait to attend the 3 PM pickup. I missed overhearing conversations I can actually understand and hanging out with like-minded friends. Monty and Yumi, for some fun and afternoon fun.
« What reminds me, I promise, I won’t be one of those angry people who come back from abroad with an accent and a whole new vocabulary. See you in 2021! grace. And ciao! ”
Duncan Campbell, ARN’s chief content officer, said Langbroek will give the 3pm pick-up a new perspective.
“I am very happy to welcome Kate back to the network. She is a seasoned broadcaster and will bring a new perspective to the show after her time in Italy.
« Kate has a way of engaging with audiences that sets her apart, and we look forward to bringing the chemistry and dynamics to life between Kate, Monty and Yumi in the air. ”
ARN CEO Ciaran Davis added; “Securing Kate is an absolute coup for ARN. She is a popular Australian personality who understands the importance of working with our clients for positive commercial results.
“Bec Judd made a fantastic contribution to the 3pm pickup. We’ll miss the engaging conversation, real life anecdotes and the fun she brought to the show, but we wish her all the best in her next endeavor, ”said Campbell.
The 3pm pick-up was first launched in 2011 with Chrissie Swan and Stynes. During this time, Wendy Harmer, Zoe Marshall and Meshel Laurie were represented.
It is currently broadcast on KIIS 101. 1 Melbourne, KIIS 106. 5 Sydney, 97. 3 FM Brisbane, Mix 102. 3 Adelaide and Mix 106. 3 Canberra.
Langbroek and Hughes’ new roles in competing networks signal the end of a long partnership between the couple on the road with the launch of Nova 100 with Dave O’Neil in 2001.
Langbroek has since been on TV on Talkin ‘Bout Your Generation, The Circle, Thank God You’re Here, Dances With The Stars, The Panel, Studio 10 and Hughesy We Have a Problem.
